The Estate is Liza Costello's debut novel. An earlier version was launched as an Audible Original, where it was chosen as a crime and thriller pick of the month and selected as an editor’s pick. She has been short-listed for the Seán Ó‘Faoláin Prize, the Francis MacManus Short Story Competition and the Patrick Kavanagh Poetry Award, and came first in the Dromineer Literary Festival Poetry Award. Her writing has also been broadcast on RTE Radio 1 (Sunday Miscellany, A Living Word) and published in various magazines, including The Irish Independent (New Irish Writing), The Stinging Fly, Mslexia, The Manchester Review and The Interpreter’s Hat (see other writing for more info).
A professional member of the Irish Writers Centre, Liza provides a mentoring service to other fiction writers.
In the past, Liza worked as a social researcher for a range of voluntary organisations and state agencies, specialising in themes of health and social disadvantage. She also worked for many years as a copy-editor, within the same field of health and social policy; clients included Eurofound (the EU agency based in Dublin), various government departments, state agencies and NGOs.
Liza lives in the Irish midlands with her husband and two children.
